WHAT TO EXPECT
WEATHER
Hot air ballooning is one of the most amazing adventures one can experience in a lifetime. But with all adventure sports there are risks and limitations that we must observe in order to ensure a safe flight and memorable experience.
Ground winds for morning flights should be below 6mph projected, gusts not exceeding 8mph with no chance of rain in the immediate forecast. It is possible to fly in winds higher than that, however we prefer to fly in conditions that are not only safe but pleasurable.
Due to these restrictions flights can be canceled, but will be rescheduled as soon a possible.
ABOUT OUR PILOT
Fred Poole has been an aviation enthusiast for nearly 20 years. Beginning with skydiving Fred worked as a Tandem skydiving instructor with nearly 700 jumps and currently holds a D-License (Expert level). In addition he holds a Private Pilot Fixed Wing license, Sea Plane license, as well as a Commercial LTA (Lighter than air) with airborne heater (Hot Air Balloon) license.
DAY OF THE FLIGHT
Generally we will meet 1 hour before sunrise, finalize paperwork, and head out to the launch site.
Dress for the weather, layers are usually best, it can be cool before sunrise, but hot by the time we are packing up. Wear tennis shoes if possible and clothes that would be suitable for active outdoor activities.
At the launch site you will receive a safety briefing and be asked whether or not you would like to participate in inflating the balloon.
The flight will last approximately an hour, sometimes more, sometimes less. Hot air balloons are at the mercy of the wind, you can plan on roughly where you want to go, but mother nature doesn't always oblige. As safety is our number one priority, finding a safe and suitable landing site is our highest priority and if we find a safe landing site before an hour is up, we take it.
After landing we will pack up and have our post flight ceremony. There you will be inducted into our family of flight. There are two type of ceremonies, the kind we do for our friends, and the light version. We will ask which you prefer.
OUR CREW
Ballooning is a family affair. Lori Poole our Crew Chief is a skydiver with D-License. No stranger to adventure our Master Crew Chief Devon Poole received his Open Water Diving Certificate at 10 years old, the youngest age possible. Our team ensures a safe, comfortable, and wonderful adventure.
